Streatham is a district of London, located about five miles (8km) South of Charing Cross. Streatham Railway Station is one of 3 train stations serving the district in the London Borough of Lambeth. The railway station dates back to eighteen fifty six, and was originally operated by London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (aka The Brighton Line). Platform one has services to Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Common, Battersea Park and Victoria Station. Platform two has services to Crystal Palace, Gipsy hill and West Norward.
Streatham Hill is a residential area, located to the North of the district, in South London. Development increased rapidly after the opening of the train station in Streatham Hill and Crystal palace Railway Station, back in eighteen fifty six. Roupell Park (named after the Roupell family) was another large area built near Christchurch road, in Streatham Hill.
Festivals in Streatham:
Streatham Festival started back in 2002, and has since grown to a large festival with over fifty events. It is an arts festival presenting local talented people, with a variety of established and emerging artists, and uses a number of different venues across the area of Streatham. Every year, Streatham Festival Association hosts new events and deliver's a theme to inspire new work across the programme.
