Edinburgh is the capital city of the Scotland. Edinburgh Districts:

Old Town: Most of Edinburgh’s famous buildings including the Edinburgh Castle and the Holyrood Palace are located here.

New Town: The New Town was the expansion of Edinburg's to the north of the Old Town that took place during the 18th century. It is Edinburg's main shopping and commercial distinct.

Stockbridge and Canonmills: The Stockbridge and Canonmills is home to the serene and calm Royal Botanic Gardens, it also has many shopping areas.

Leith: The port area of Leith is located in the north of the city, although now a part of Edinburgh, Leith has maintained its independent and unique character. Most of Edinburgh's immigrant population lives here which has made it into a truly cosmopolitan community.

Edinburgh/East: Edinburgh east is home to the famous beach resort of Portobello. The nine-hundred year old Duddingston Village is also situated here.

Edinburgh/South: Most of Edinburg's student population lives here. Edinburgh/West: It is home to Edinburg's magnificent Murrayfield Stadium. The 6 Nations Championship is held here every year. Edinburgh's famous zoo is also located here.


There are four Universities in Edinburgh, the most established and oldest being the University of Edinburgh dating back to the late sixteenth century. There are five important performing arts theatres and many festivals all the year round. The Summer season is the busiest time for tourists, with the Edinburgh International festival held in August. There is also the military Tattoo, Jazz festivals and the Fringe festival held in the Summer season. Edinburgh also has parkland with a botanical garden.

Edinburgh Climate:

Edinburgh has a temperate climate. The lowest temperate recorded in Edinburg was in 2010 when mercury fell to -14.5 degree centigrade while the highest temperate recorded is 31.4 degree centigrade way back in 1975. Because of its geographical location the city experiences windy conditions.


Edinburgh is host to many festivals around the year the most famous of them is the Edinburgh International Festival, other well known festivals include the Edinburg Festival Fringe the Military Tattoo Festival, the International Book Festival, the Beltane Fire Festival Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival, the Edinburgh Art Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. Edinburgh has two football clubs playing in the Scottish top flight; the Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian, the two are commonly known as simply Hearts and Hibs. The derby game between Hearts and Hibs is one of oldest derby matches anywhere in the world. The Scotland International Cricket team home ground the Grange cricket club is also located in Edinburgh. The famous Murrayfield stadium is also located in the city, it is the largest stadium in Scotland with 67, 130 seats.
