Swindon is a large town located in the county of Wiltshire, England. It lies forty miles (64km) East of Bristol and forty miles West of Reading, with a population of approximately two hundred and ten thousand.
The town's largest employers include Honda of the UK Manufacturing (car production plant) which involves welding, pressing, engine assembly and many more car assembly activities. Other large business's include the WHSmith headquarters and distribution centre, and Intel (a large electronics company) who have their European head office base to the South of Swindon. There are many large banks based in the town including HSBC, Nat West, Lloyds TSB and Barclays, and there are also many large legal firms including Lemon & Co, Thring Townsend and Clarke Holt.
The main train station serving the town is Swindon Railway Station, and is located near the bus station in the town centre. The station is served by the Great Western Mainline service from London to Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea. Stagecoach and Thamesdown are the main bus operators serving the town.
Car share is a scheme set up by a private organisation and Wiltshire County Council, and now has several hundred thousand members. The Magic Roundabout is a set of five roundabouts built back in the early seventies, and is located near Swindon F.C. Football stadium.
