Walsall is a town located East of Wolverhampton, and North west of Birmingham, with a poulation of about 175,000. The Industrial Revolution caused the town to grow vastly, and expanded from about two thousand villagers during the sixteenth century to a town of nearly ninety thousand, two centuries later.
Until the end of the nineteenth century, the town was a major centre for the coal mining Industry, and later became well known in the Leather industry. Walsall is known as the main manufacturers of English saddles, and still makes riding saddles for the royal family and handbags for the queen. The location of the town in the Midlands, and it's close proximity to the M6 motorway means that it is very appealling for investors, and large employers including the RAC, have their control centre in Walsall.
The train station in the town is Walsall Railway Station, and is located in Station Street, in the centre of town, near Saddlers Shopping centre. The station has frequent services to and from Birmingham city centre. Walsall Bus Station is a combination of two bus stations managed by Network West Midlands, they are St Pauls Bus Station and Bradford Place Bus Station. They cover over ninety routes from many bus operators, with services to Wolverhampton, Birmingham amongst many other destinations.
