Lanzarote airport is approximately 7km from Lanzarote city centre, and 5km from Arrecife. The airport has two terminals and serves chartered flights from Europe and also shceduled flights. It handles over 5 million each year and is in the top ten busiest airports in Spain. If you are driving from Arrecife the airport is well signposted from Autovia Arrecife-Yaiza (LZ-2). Located in San Bartolome, this airport in Spain opens its doors to millions of passengers visiting Las Palmas yearly.

This airport is among the busiest ones indeed, and that’s not just in Spain, but in the rest of Europe as well. Using the international code ACE, this airport is systematically located in the island of Lanzarote. Incidentally, Lanzarote is the largest island in the Canary region. Do note that this airport is also the closest one to Africa. As such, it can provide you with an easy access to the continent for yet another wildlife adventure.

This public airport is operated by Aena and can take you to the different destinations in Spain and the rest of the world. This is a complete airport indeed, having all the facilities well in place to make sure that every passenger gets to their ultimate destination in full comfort. From within the airport, ample parking and car rental services are available. There are also several stores and duty free  shops situated all around as well. VIP lounges, restaurants, and cafeterias are also available. And they are there to provide passengers with all the things that they need while waiting for their flights.

Lazarote Airport also has complete passenger services which include ATM machines, medical services, Wi-Fi connection, exhibition halls, meeting points, and service stations. Those who have to endure a really long waiting time at the airport can stop by the Aviation Museum. The museum is built for both tourists and the locals who wanted to know more about the aviation heritage of the island. Along with the detailed and comprehensive showcase of aviation history, several audio-visual presentations are being played by the hour.

To get in and out of the airport, city buses are available. They usually take Route 22, which links the airport to the island capital of Arrecife in a matter of 10 minutes. However, this transport service is only available from Monday to Friday, not including public holidays. Alternately, there’s Route 23 and Route 61 that passengers can take. Route 23 is the transportation option during Sundays and public holidays. It links the airport to both Arrecife and Playa Honda. However, if your ultimate destination is much further like Playa Blanca or Puerto del Carmen, Route 61 is what you should take.

For those who would rather not take the bus, a taxi service is available at the two terminals of the airport. However, it is important to note that the weekday rates may not be the same as the weekend fares. The latter is going to be more expensive by a few cents. The taxis from the airport ranks are duly authorized. Make sure that you catch a ride from there and not from the ones that are offering their services from any other point. You can request for a bill from the driver in case you have any complaints.
